Quick, Violent, and Dirty Self-Protection @ The Studio (10 min SW of Downtown Chicago)
Mar 21 @ 1:00 AM – 4:00 AM

self defense class chicagoDue to the recent events that have affected our community, many people are asking for a way to feel protected. The loss of Foxy Goat has crushed many of us and changed the way in which we think we are safe in our homes. All of the profit for this class is going as a donation in her name to assist the 1901 Gallery Theater.

Effective self-protection is by its nature quick, violent, and dirty. It is not about kicking someone’s ass, egos, or looking tough. The purpose of this class is to share knowledge about how to cause enough damage, swiftly, ruthlessly, and unexpectedly, so that a victim can escape from an attacker and protect themselves from any further harm. It isn’t pretty, elegant, sporting, or honorable.

While avoiding conflict and being in danger is always the best strategy, sometimes that is not a possibility. The Quick, Violent, and Dirty Self-Protection seminar is designed to teach students about how to prepare for imminent assault, how to use the body’s natural weapons, and when and how to employ highly effective force-multipliers to inflict debilitating damage on an attacker with the purpose of preserving one’s safety, well-being, and own life.

Quick, Violent, and Dirty Self-Protection is a two-hour intensive lecture and demonstration of a few specific techniques, methods, and courses of action that can be learned easily and practiced repeatedly until they become second-nature survival strategies.

“I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who had practiced one kick 10,000 times.”—Bruce Lee

Instructor Biography and Background

Happy-Venom has been training in fighting techniques since childhood. He been boxing since age 6 (his father was a former pro boxer), wrestling since 8, started karate and kung-fu at 10, and then began training in his main instructor’s style of Japanese jujutsu, as well as the muay Thai, wing chun, Shotokan karate, aiki-jujutsu, and Japanese weapons by age 12.

In the more than three decades since then, he has studied many styles of martial arts, including savate, tae kwon do, catch wrestling, and jeet kune do to add to his knowledge of fighting and hand-to-hand combat.

Happy-Venom is a combat veteran of Operation Desert Storm and used to do crazy shit like fighting in cages, traveled to distant lands to shoot people and blow stuff up, and wrangled drunkards in biker bars. Now he engages in more humanitarian activities like training MMA fighters and security personnel on how to beat people up more efficiently.

The cost of the class is a $20 donation. All profits are going to 1901 Gallery in Lisa’s name.

In this panel, we’ll be joined by a few of your favorite experienced kink educators who will share their tips and tricks for negotiating pay.

About this event

Just how much does a kink educator get paid to teach adults about BDSM? Is it an hourly rate? Minimum wage? Or maybe less? Many people are often surprised to find out how pay works in the world of kink education, especially once they calculate just how much it can cost to travel to conventions where they teach. In this panel we’ll be joined by a few of your favorite experienced kink educators who will share their tips and tricks for kink education marketing, negotiation, and budgeting so they’re most likely to have some income (instead of deficit).

Presenter Bio:

Ignixia is an internationally renowned professional kink educator and leather-woman who was the owner and sole-operator of an award-winning leather business where she used her skills as a leatherworker to create the Kinkability toy line, first of its kind fetish gear designed for those with disabilities. As someone who lives with chronic pain, along with her partner, she uses her experiences to help others with chronic pain through classes designed to make daily life and kink easier to manage.

Over the past 5 years she’s shared that passion by teaching at over 50 major kink conferences. When not traveling to teach at kink conventions, she used to volunteer 2 days per week at her local dungeon as a DM and educator. Locally she has also been a founding member and Co-Chair of NLA-Orlando, Co-Founder of WiLO (Women in Leather Orlando), Co-Creator of CFL Littles, and a supporter of WinK (Women in Kink), Dominant’s Roundtable, and multiple under 35 groups.

In addition to donating products to multiple events’ charity funds, she is the creator of over 100 kink/fetish based designs including #KinkyCoexist and dozens of “Pride” Facebook profile frames used by thousands around the world. Her latest endeavor has been the creation and management of Kink Positive, a project designed to promote kink and sex positive thinking through education by joining efforts with other educators, vendors, and events to maximize reach.
