Sunny’s Teaching Philosophy

Sunny Megatron believes pleasure is a human right.

But if we all deserve pleasure why do so many of us have difficulty accessing it? Most of us grew up with little to no formal sex education. We didn’t learn enough (or the right things) to prepare us for adult sexual experiences and healthy relationships. In fact, the shame-based myths and scare tactics we were told likely made things worse. We’ve lived our whole lives in a world that demonizes sex and pleasure. It’s one where we’re expected to ostracise anyone (including ourselves) who dares color outside of the socially accepted sexual lines.

In other words, having an uninhibited, shame-free, transformative sex life that encourages experimentation, personal growth, and improves your relationships is HARD, y’all! It’s also a never-ending journey. Just when we think we have it down, we discover there’s always more to learn.

Truly transformational pleasure education must focus on both the physical mechanics AND what’s going on inside our brain before, during, and after an encounter. Only learning the step-by-steps of how to milk a prostate, find a g-spot, or wield a flogger won’t cut it. That’s only half of what we need to understand. We have to factor in the human element too if we want to fully access our pleasure potential.

In her workshops, Sunny blends the technical how-to’s of pleasure anatomy and BDSM skills (the “hard skills”) with the complexities of being human (the “soft skills”). She teaches students how to incorporate things like consent frameworks, communication strategies, and trauma awareness into erotic experiences. She also gives tips on identifying the ways power dynamics and cultural influences affect our sexual relationships with others and with ourselves.

While learning anatomy can feel mind-numbingly academic and confronting our shame heavy and serious, Sunny makes these topics accessible and simple. Specializing in teaching those new to sex-positive exploration and kink, Sunny’s approach is fresh, relatable, and fun.

Her unique brand of “edutainment” puts audiences at ease in her sell-out workshops. Each session seamlessly combines her humorous lecturing style, interactive exercises, and the latest sexuality research. Sunny’s casual, experiential teaching style helps students feel comfortable tackling taboo topics, improves their positivity about the subject matter, and gives them a real-world taste of the improv-eque creativity required for uninhibited adult play.

All classes are inclusive and open to people of all genders, sexual orientations, relationship statuses, abilities, cultural backgrounds, etc. Accommodations like auto-captions, verbal descriptions of all visual material, and screen reader accessible class handouts & mini workbooks are provided. Being neurodivergent herself (NVLD & ADHD), Sunny is attuned to the importance of varied teaching styles. She teaches from a whole-parts-whole perspective and consistently uses both verbal and visual prompts.

Most of Sunny’s “vanilla” classes are genital-focused and suited to people of all experience levels. They are non-explicit and contain no nudity or live models/demonstrations. Medical models, vulva puppets, realistic pleasure toys, and the like are used for all demos. You can find the selection of current classes down below.

Her BDSM classes are suited for beginners, intermediate, and advanced players. While anyone is welcome to attend any class, the descriptions of each indicate which experience level it’s best suited for. Advanced players are encouraged to take beginner-level classes for a fresh perspective and to spark their creativity. Sunny’s longtime catchphrase has been, “Kink is Customizable.” In her teachings, she approaches kink from a build-your-own-custom-adventure perspective which can help experienced players can see the foundations they know through a new lens. Aside from Electric Play, BDSM classes focus on the strategic or soft skills as opposed to technique/hard skills. She refers to it as, “all the brain stuff you need to know to engage in BDSM safely, consensually, and ethically.”

Sunny is currently working on her first book, Customizable Kink: A Strategic Guide to Erotic Play which is due to be released in 2022.

Presently, Sunny only teaches virtually due to the pandemic (but will likely go back to teaching in-person events and traveling in 2022). All of her current virtual offerings are listed below (UPDATE IN PROGRESS, CHECK BACK FOR NEW CLASS LISTINGS). In addition, Sunny can custom create specialized workshops for you.

Advanced BDSM classes like Coercive Interrogation and Edge Play are on hold until in-person classes are safe. These advanced classes are co-presented with her spouse & occasional classroom co-educator, Ken Melvoin-Berg, due to the intensity, safety risks, and attention to detail required.
